Earthborn's colour of the year for 2023

Earthborn wave a fond farewell to Lily Lily Rose as their Colour of the Year for 2022 and excitedly beckon in quite a different look for the new year with the bold, earthy and warming tone of Lady Bug.

Rich, natural hues are set to take over the interiors world – perhaps it’s a need for comfort with its cocooning effect – or maybe we’re just all ready for a change from the dominant pastels we’ve seen in homes and on catwalks over the past few years.

Lady Bug is a beautiful earthy burgundy with brown undertones that exudes a calming sophistication and warmth.

Shades of red and burgundy have a rather powerful effect on the human psyche. It’s a winner’s colour, the tone of attraction and seen as a powerful hue that also symbolises ambition. It’s this strength and bolstering that Earthborn believe we all need going into the new year. We’re getting braver with our interior choices and realising how much colour can make an impact on our emotional wellbeing – especially now that a lot of us work from home too.

Benjamin Moore's colour of the year for 2023

Benjamin Moore's Colour Trends 2023 palette was chosen for its distinct presence and personality. This sentiment flows through the palette as we immerse ourselves in hues that make a statement. Inspired by an artist's desire to communicate through colour, shape, and sound, Colour Trends 2023 was built to envelope you in vivacious colour. Each of these eight confident hues offer inspiration and creativity, while encouraging a push beyond the traditional to experience truly exceptional colour.

Vivacious optimism. Undeniable charisma. Joie de vivre. Raspberry Blush 2008-30 is a vivacious shade of coral tinged with pink, and it enlivens the senses with an eclectic optimism.

"Never a backdrop, Raspberry Blush is the definition of charismatic colour. This unapologetic shade of red orange had us thinking: bold, bolder, boldest." said Helen Shaw, Marketing Director at Benjamin Moore UK.

"People are ready to bring colour back into the home, taking a step outside their colour comfort zones," said Andrea Magno, Colour Marketing & Development Director at Benjamin Moore. "Raspberry Blush 2008-30 and the Colour Trends 2023 palette empower the use of statement colours that deliver delight and personality, while transforming rooms for incredible results."

Paint Library have released their new Monochrome colour range

‘Monochrome’, presents six nuanced pairs of black and white shades, tonally formulated to be used together in chic, subtly harmonious relationships.

Each white tone has been carefully selected for its versatility: all six whites can be used as striking, independent, all-over shades, but appear equally effectively as beautiful, plain whites within a scheme of tonal similarity.

Each black tone has been judiciously designed to be used with its monochromatic partner, in lesser or greater proportion, to dramatically change the interplay of light and space in a room, while at the same time effortlessly coordinating with existing materials and surfaces in the interior scheme.

Each white and black pair adopts the hue of the Paint & Paper Library ‘Original’ colour shown alongside it, thus presenting six options of varying undertone, including ochre, pink, warm grey, cool grey, blue and green.

Farrow & Ball's New Colour by Nature range has been released

The Natural History Museum in London is a global authority on nature, conservation, and scientific discovery, creating wonder for all who visit. Who better, then, to help Farrow & Ball capture the true colours of the world around us, and to bring those colours into your home?

The dazzling variety of the natural world is evident throughout the Museum, from rocks and precious stones to delicate butterfly wings. But there’s one source in particular that perfectly celebrates the biological diversity and magnificent array of colours behind each display case – kept in the Museum’s rare book library.

The story of the Colour by Nature collection has been over two centuries in the making, beginning with the publication of Werner’s Nomenclature of Colours. A ground-breaking classification of colour in nature, Werner’s Nomenclature recorded in painstaking detail the exact hues and corresponding parts of animals, vegetables and minerals from across the natural world, becoming a treasured resource for scientists and artists alike.
