Application Rate: Approximately 10m² per litre - this figure will vary depending on porosity fo substrate, etc.
Drying Time At 20°C:
Touch Dry: 20 minutes
Film Dry: 1 hour
Overcoat: 1 hour with water-based coatings / 4 hours with solvent-based coatings.
(will vary with temperature, air movements, etc.)
Note: Drying times of water-based paints will vary widely depending upon humidity, air circulation, ventilation, etc.
Packaging: 500ml, 1 litre, 2.5 litre and 5 litre containers
Shelf Life: 2 years in unopened containers when stored under cover in good storage conditions.
Storage: Under cover with temperature range of 5°C to 32°C. Protect from frost.
Surface Preparation: Surface must be clean and free from oil, grease, etc. Previously painted surfaces should be lightly abraded with abrasive paper and wiped clean.
Application: Normally applied by brush or roller. May also be applied by spray - up to 10% of clean water may be added to achieve optimum application characteristics. For exterior use, 2 coats are recommended to give maximum durability.
Treatment of Knots: Water-based wood primers are essentially 'self-knotting'.
The fully dried AC Universal is unaffected by the resinous material in the knots. (Unlike oil-based primers which allow the resins in the timber to permeate through the film.)
Timber which is heavily knotted should be spot-primed with the AC Universal in the knotted areas and allowed to dry for at least 2 hours before overall priming.
Clean-up: Water - clean all equipment immediately, do not allow to dry.
Health and Safety: For more information request relevant Material Safety Datasheet.
