oiling wood

Versatile and forgiving, oils have become top-selling products. Most often waterproof and heat-resistant I have used them on my kitchen table for years. There are lots of different sorts made from single oils, such as Tung or Linseed, blends of oils and oils mixed with waxes. Most are suitable for interior use and some such as Osmo UV Protection Oils are specially formulated to work well outside. Oils are quick and easy to use but they do need very regular maintenance to keep them in good condition. On a table or a work top several times per year, outside in a weather-facing direction top up once a year. It is quick to do and the maintenance cycle becomes longer over time as the oils build up.
